IVF babies are often regarded as “precious children,” which can lead to the misconception that they are more fragile than naturally conceived babies. In reality, after nearly 40 years of development, nearly 10 million IVF babies have been born worldwide. The first IVF baby, born in the UK in 1978, has grown up, conceived naturally, and given birth to her own healthy child.

In China, the first three IVF babies are now 30 years old. They are working at the reproductive centers where they were born (one in Beijing and two in Hunan). Their intelligence and physical health are completely normal.

Large-scale studies have confirmed that babies born through IVF technology show no significant differences in birth defects or later cognitive development compared to naturally conceived babies. Therefore, prospective parents need not worry excessively.
