Dr. Samuel Wood
Dr. Wood is a board-certified Reproductive Endocrinologist and world-renowned fertility specialist as well as an expert in reproductive genetics with over 30 years of clinical experience. Dr. Wood is the only fertility specialist in the U.S. who has the honor of being a longtime listee in three Marquis’ publications: “Who’s Who in America,” “Who’s Who in the World,” and “Who’s Who in Science & Technology.” His clinical skills have won him many accolades including being named a “Top Doctor” by U.S. News and World Report, a “Super Doctor” by SuperDoctors.com and has earned ratings of “Superb” (9.8) by the Avvo physicianrating service and 4 out 4 stars on the patient-based rating site Vitals.com. He was named one of the “50 People to Watch” by San Diego Magazine and one of the 20 “Men who Impact San Diego” by San Diego Metropolitan Magazine. He is also a past member of the Board of Directors of the San Diego County Medical Society.
Dr. Wood’s distinguished academic background also includes an M.A. in Psychology, a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, as well as an M.B.A. After a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina, he completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at UCSD and is Board Certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility achieving both in the quickest possible time. He has also earned the honor of being a certified High Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD) by the American Board of Bioanalysts (AAB) in two separate areas. He has published numerous scientific papers in multiple areas of study. His academic credentials are not surprising given that he is also a longtime member of Mensa, the society for individuals with a documented high IQ.
Dr. Wood also has extensive media experience having been featured on numerous local and national print, radio and television news pieces including the “New York Times,” “Newsweek,” “Vogue,” “Cosmopolitan,” “Dr. Oz,” “The Doctors,” “World News Tonight,” “NBC Nightly News,” “Good Morning America,” “The Today Show,” “ABC’s World News Tonight,” PBS’ “Frontline,” and a BBC documentary seen worldwide, as well as all major television outlets in San Diego and many others across the country. Over the past few years, he has appeared on over 100 local and national radio, television and print shows. He is frequently featured on local and national morning television segments, which provides insights into the latest research in reproductive endocrinology/infertility, stem cell research, behavioral endocrinology, reproductive genetics and medical ethics.
